Destroy Your Original Title
After you have ordered a replacement title as a duplicate, it is common that the original title is later found. Whether it is months or even years after replacing your title, you should destroy the original. The original title will no longer be valid, considering it was replaced by the duplicate.
If There's a Lien on Your Vehicle
A lienholder, such as a financial institution like a bank or auto loan entity may hold a lien on a vehicle due to financial interest. A lien withholds the vehicle from being sold until it is completely paid off. Yet, if the terms of the auto long are not respected, the lienholder has authority to take possession of the vehicle.
To acquire a title replacement with a lien on a vehicle, the lienholder must submit a request for the duplicate title. If the lien is resolved and completely paid off, there are further documents to include with your title replacement order for proof.
